Steve De Vries, 91, Orange City, died Wednesday, March 5, at Orange City Hospital Long-Term Care Facility.

Services will be 10 A.M. today (Saturday, March 8) at First Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Kevin De Young officiating. There will be a graveside service at 3:30 P.M. at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens in Montevideo, Minnesota, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Steve De Vries, son of George and Jennie (Siebersma) De Vries, was born October 15, 1911, near Primghar. His given name was Siebe. He graduated from Orange City Christian School in 1926. He worked for several small farmers and small businessmen.

He married Eva Tracy Hoekstra at Orange City in 1940. They farmed near Marion, North Dakota, until 1949, when they moved to a farm near Orange City. They purchased a farm near Watson, Minnesota, in 1950. Mrs. De Vries died in 1966 in Montevideo, Minnesota.

He married Marjorie “Marge” (Zwiers) Roos in 1968 in Sioux Center. They retired to Sioux Center in 1972. They moved to Hull in 1974. Mrs. De Vries died in 1990 in Hull. He moved to Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City in 1992. He transferred to Orange City Hospital Long-Term Care Facility in 1995.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City. He was a former member of North Marion, North Dakota, Reformed Church, Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo, Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center and First Reformed Church in Hull.
Survivors include a son, Larry De Vries of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; a daughter, Diane and Dale Larson of Camas, Washington; three grandchildren; a stepdaughter-in-law, Betty Roos; two step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Frank De Vries of Orange City and George De Vries, Jr. of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by his two wives, Eva Tracy De Vries and Marjorie “Marge” De Vries; a step-son, Harlan Roos; three brothers, Elmer De Vries, Marion De Vries and Cornelius De Vries; and two sisters, Lucy Fedders and Etta Harmelink.
