Lois Guetschow, 78, died Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 1, at United Church of Primghar, with the Rev. David Finley officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton.

Lois I. Guetschow, was born June 18, 1922 to I/A.I. and Ruth Elliott Coons, in Ireton. She attended schools in rural Ireton before moving with her family to Primghar in 1938. There she attended Primghar schools graduating from Primghar High School in 1941. She worked in the Primghar area as a housekeeper. She was united in marriage to Robert Guetschow. In 1955 she moved to Paulina with her sister Millie where they operated L&M Cafe until 1958. She returned to Primghar where she was a housekeeper and later began employment at the O'Brien County Home in Primghar where she worked until her retirement.

Mrs. Guetschow was baptized and later confirmed into the Methodist faith at the United Methodist Church in Ireton and was currently a member of the United Church of Primghar. She was active in the Cancer Society and the Wings of Hope Hospice. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards and was a volunteer at the Primghar Care Canter.

She is survived by her son, Randy and his special friend Dee Vander Pol of Primghar; two grandchildren; three sisters Mrs. Blanche Swanson, Mrs. Mickie Van Leeuwen, and Mrs. Joyce Thompson, all of Primghar; one brother, Leo and
his wife Eleanor Coons, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; also nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
