Gone to Rest.
Mrs. H. R. Shipman died at her home six miles west of Rock Valley Thursday morning. The summons came very suddenly and the news of her death was a great shock to the community. Mrs. Shipman had lived here a good many years and was a woman of many admirable traits of character, making friends of all who knew her. She was 35 years old and leaves a husband and an infant child only a few days old, to mourn her departure. Her mother and three sisters are living, and were here to attend the funeral.

Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at 12 o'clock today, conducted by Rev. Huizenga. The funeral was largely attended, the Oddfellows being present in a body, and the remains were laid to rest in Rock Valley cemetery.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Shipman, Kittie, b. 14 Mar 1863 d. 17 Nov 1898, H: H. R., Valley View Cemetery Rock Valley. It also has Shipman, Howard R., b. 9 Jun 1863, d. 19 Dec 1842[i.e., 1942].

Howard R. Shipman's obituary (Sioux Center News, Dec. 31, 1942) says that his first wife was Kittie Farrell, married 1892, died November 1898.
