Ireton, IA - Funeral services for Mrs. C. L. Smith, 82, who died Sunday, July 5, in a Jamestown, N.D. hospital, were held Thursday at the Ellendale N.D. Methodist Church, Rev. D. W. Nankivel officiated. Burial was in the Ellendale cemetery.

Barbara Clara White Smith was born at Ireton, March 29, 1877, to Thomas & Mary White, pioneers of this section. She received her public school education here and at an early age became a member of the Methodist church. She enjoyed music and at 13 years of age was church organist and performed this service in many churches and at community events.

She was married in 1896 to Charles Leslie Smith, who survives her. In 1904, with their three small daughters, Mr. & Mrs. Smith homesteaded in Logan county, N.D., near Burnsted where their son and another daughter were born. The farm was their home until 1909 when they moved to Ellendale.

Survivors include the widower; one son, Delbert of Ellendale, and four daughters, Mrs. (Eva) Otto Bauer of Seattle, WA; Mrs. (Ora) Lloyd Smith of Salem, OR; Mrs. (Leslie) A. F. Nagel of Wilson Creek, WA, and Miss Sibyl Smith at home. She is also survived by one brother, Alvin White.
