Gone to His Reward

Late Friday afternoon H. M. Hady[i.e., Handy] received the sad intelligence that his son G. W. Handy had suffered sunstroke while repairing binders on the Wilko ranch in Lyon county on the forenoon of that day, and at once left for that place. He found his son in a critical condition, and at once moved him to Rock Rapids, where better medical skill and assistance could be secured, which was hastily summoned, but all efforts proved fruitless. The young man suffered intense pain, which could not be alleviated by the skill of physicians nor the willing hand of care. Friday evening he was seized with cramps and spasms and continued in a comatose condition until Saturday at 4 o'clock, when he quietly and seemingly peacefully passed from this world away, to his great reward.

G. W. Handy was a married man, a wife and four children mourn the loss of a kind, loving husband and father. He was 44 years of age.

The funeral services took place Sunday afternoon from the Congregational church, and were largely attended. The Bee extends its heartfelt sympathy to relatives of deceased here and elsewhere.

In the same issue of the Bee: Mr. and Mrs. Ted Handy drove to Rock Rapids Sunday to attend the funeral services of a brother of the former, who died Saturday.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has his probable parents, Homer M. Handy (1870-1943) and Minnie S. Handy (1878-1938).
