It is ever a sad duty for us to chronicle the death of one in the noonday of life, but in the death of Mrs. H. H. Jensen, this duty becomes doubly sad, for the reason that among those who mourn her death, are a number of small children that now miss the tender care of a dutiful mother. Mrs. Jensen died very suddenly Wednesday evening [July 13] about 6 o'clock at her home, upon a farm seven miles northwest of Rock Valley, of heart failure, and her death is a community sorrow. The funeral and burial services were held yesterday, and her remains were buried in the Sioux township cemetery.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has "Jensen, Mother, b. 1 May 1859, d. 13 Jul 1898, Sioux & Settlers Twp Cem."

This is the wife of Hans Henry Jensen, who appears in the 1900 federal census as age 69, widowed, a farmer, born in Germany, came to the U.S. in 1868, and residing in Sioux Township, Sioux County. Children listed were William (19), Henry (17), Emma (16), Mollie (15), Maggie (12), Lena (9), Louie (8), Matilda (4), and Lily (3).

His obituary (Rock Valley Bee, Nov. 3, 1911) gives her maiden name, says she was his second wife (married 1880), died 18 years later, and gives a similar list of surviving children.
