Hilda Halma, age 99, died October 26, 1992, at the Valley Manor Nursing Home, Rock Valley, la. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church of Inwood, la. Burial was at the Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Rev. Jelmcr Groenewold officiated with Porter Funeral Home of Inwood in charge of arrangements.

Hilda was born June 17, 1893 at Tzummarum, Friesland. She was the daughter of Charles and Frieda (Van Dyke) Miedema. Hilda married Harry Halma on May 22, 1919 at Beetgomolen, Holland. They came to the United States to the Lebanon - Hawarden, la. area in 1923. They lived in North Dakota and near Rock Valley, la. before farming SW of Inwood in 1944. They moved into Inwood in 1974. Harry died June 5, 1982. Hilda moved to the Valley Manor at Rock Valley on October 7,1987.

Surviving relatives include seven sons and their wives, George and Ann, Charles and Alice, Martin and Ruth, John and Ella Mae, Roger and June, Clarence and. Connie, and Sam and Judy, all of Inwood, la.; three daughters and their husbands, Frieda and Bert Veldkamp of iLakewopd, California, Albertha Gorier of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Rena and Don Cannegieter of Rock Valley, la; one sister, Rena Harmelink of Rock Valley, la; and 45 grandchildren; and 103 greatgrandchildren.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; brothers, Chester, John and Sam; sister, .Theresa; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
