Darrell C. Reid, 60, Knoxville, TN, formerly of Ireton, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 25, 1983, in the V.A. Hospital in Nashville, TN, after a long illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 2:30 p.m. in the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral home with Pastor Clay Seneker and Rev. Wallace Parham officiating. Interment was in the Forest Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Reid was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Ireton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 276 of Ireton.
He married Jaucile Long on Dec. 18, 1949, in Chattanooga, TN. They lived in Ireton several years before moving to Chattanooga. They lived in Knoxville,the past 14 years. Mr. Reid was supervisor for Bordon Food Company, until retirement, due to ill health.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Clark Reid of Knoxville; one daughter, Mrs. Bob (Amelia R.) Pearson of Alexandria, AL; his mother, Mrs. Lenora Reid; and a brother, Eugene Reid, both of Ireton; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Helen) Ping, and Mrs. Melvin (Marilyn) Torwelle, both of Ireton, and Mrs. Lynn (Thelma) Walker of Waterville, KS.
