Mrs. Clara De Vries, 72 of Maurice died Saturday evening at a hospital in Sioux Falls following a long illness.

Services were held Tuesday, at 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City, Rev A.M. Den Hoed officiated. Burial was in Sherman Township Cemetery.

Mrs. De Vries was born May 1, 1913 at Maurice, the daughter of John and Maria (Beukhof) De Bruin. She married Dan De Vries Feb. 12, 1946 at Maurice. She was a life-long resident of the Maurice area where the couple farmed.

She was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

Survivors include her husband Dan; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Carol) Kooi of Sioux Falls, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Shane, Robyn, Kandace and Paul Scott of Maurice, Cindi, Stacey and Nicholas Kooi of Sioux Falls; five brothers, Tom and Albert of Rock Valley,; Henry and John P. of Lynden, WA; Garrit of Rock Rapids and three sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Marie) Postma and Mrs Gerrit (Helena) Niemeyer of Doon, and Mrs. Irene Reitsma of Edgerton, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Muriel Scott, two sisters and one brother.
