Mrs. D. (Dries) Vander Maaten died Thursday morning of last week after a lingering illness at the age of seventy seven years. Her husband died less than four months ago and his loss hastened her death. She was married at Oldebroek Holland in 1863 and in 1881 they came to Sioux County Iowa where they have lived ever since. Four children are left to mourn the loss of their mother Mrs. W. Veldhuizen, Frank, Mrs. Jake Dokter and Martinus. The funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the First Reformed church.

She was the daughter of Lammert Hoeve and Fennigje Doornwaard. She married Dries Vander Maaten son of Frank Vander Maaten and Marrigje Vande Kamp.)
