Mrs. Danita Vollink, age 31, of Boyden, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, July 1, at 10:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Dr. Verlyn Boone will officiate. Interment will follow at the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, at the CHURCH. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Danita Lynn was born on June 7, 1983, in Sioux Center. She was raised in the Hull-Doon area and graduated from the Netherlands Reformed Christian School in Rock Valley. She obtained her CNA certificate while in high school. After graduation, she made her home in Hull and worked at various senior facilities in the surrounding area. On September 19, 2009, she married the love of her life, Joseph Lee Vollink, in Rock Valley. They made their home in rural Boyden. She was employed at the U. S. Bank in Rock Valley, until her illness limited her to caring for her health. “Nita” struggled with cystic fibrosis all her life. She received a bilateral lung transplant in September of 2013. She was very courageous and always fought to live and get stronger. She attended the First Reformed Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and flowers, and especially fishing and hunting with “Joe”. She loved her nephews and nieces and was always willing to babysit, when she felt well. Survivors include her husband of almost five years; her parents, Daryl Lee and Darlene Faye (Van Den Top) Maassen, of Rock Valley; a grandmother, Joan Maassen, of Rock Valley; five brothers and sisters, Daniel Maassen, and his wife, Sadie; Mark Maassen; and Sarah, and her husband, Jeffrey Vollink, all of Doon; Matthew Maassen, of Boyden; and Jacinda Maassen, and her friend, Nathan Netzer, both of Vermillion, South Dakota; and eight nephews and nieces, Courtney, Allison, Benjamin, Noah, and Abigail Maassen; and Jenna, Erica, and Owen Vollink (and another expected soon). She is also survived by her husband’s parents, Veryl and Lena Vollink, of Hull; and his sister and her husband, Jodi and Orenthal Brown, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins, and her dog, Peanut. She was also loved by many friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Rae Maassen; and grandparents, Raymond Maassen and William and Jeanette Van Den Top.
