Funeral Home Obituary

Mr. Ted Goslinga, age 92, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2007, at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, February 8, at 10:00 a.m., at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Heilman will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with the family present from 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Theodore was born on December 26, 1914 at Sheldon, the son of Sjoerd and Clara (Dykstra) Goslinga. He was raised on a farm near Hospers, where he attended the Christian school. As a young teenager, his family moved to a farm by Orange City.

On May 9, 1936, he married Anna Mae Kuyper in Orange City. They made their home in Orange City for five years and farmed at Sheldon for nine years. They then farmed at Orange City until 1980, when they retired into town. They traveled in most of the United States. Mrs. Goslinga passed away on January 6, 1992 in Orange City.

In December of 2001, Ted became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In February of 2006, he transferred to the Heartland Care Center.

He was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church, where he prepared communion for many years, was an usher, and belonged to the Men's Bible Study Group. He also served on the board of directors of the Farmers' Cooperative Elevator.

Mr. Goslinga thoroughly enjoyed farming, especially helping with harvests in retirement. He liked baseball, fishing, playing cards, flowers, music, and reading. He faithfully visited shut-ins and elderly family and friends, and he drove many people to their doctor's appointments.

Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Jim & Marilyn Goslinga of Orange City; Janice & Walt Magnus of San Antonio, TX; and Stewart & Carol Goslinga, of Lakeside; 6 grandchildren and their spouses: Brian & Carla Goslinga and Bradley and Lila Goslinga, all of Orange City; David & Luanne Goslinga of Sioux Center; Ronda & Greg Jahn of LeMars; Ted & Deanne Goslinga of Alta; and Elizabeth and Doug Cavanaugh of Helottes, TX; seventeen great grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Brent Philipsen; Daniel, Brady, Brett, Stephanie, Jennifer; Jason, Taryn, Micah, Austen and Annika Goslinga; Anna Kay and Issac Jahn; Stuart & April Goslinga; and Morgan & Lillian Cavanaugh; a great-great-granddaughter, Rebecca Philipsen; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Minten of Orange City, and Wilma Zevenbergen of Alton, and a brother-in-law and his wife, Harold & Marne Kuyper, of Boise, Idaho and nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives: John & Sylvia and Ann Goslinga & Peter and Ida Goslinga; two sisters and their husbands, Jesse & George Eason, and Susan & Harry Bussanmas; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Genevieve & Bill Starkenburg and Arlene & Bill Bierma; and two brothers-in-law, Peter Minten and Bob Zevensbergen.

Memorial will be directed to the Orange City Christian School.
