Nicholas Schaul died at the home of his nephew J.N. Schaul in Alton Saturday afternoon. His death was due to the infirmities of old age. Deceased was born in Luxemburg Feb 6, 1826 and came to America in the early seventies. He settled first in Dubuque county but about five years later came to Sioux County.

He was never married and being a cripple made his home first with his brother Peter and then with the latter's sons Andrew and J. N. Schaul His nearest living relative was Nic Schaul of LeMars. Funeral services were held Monday at nine o'clock with interment in St. Mary's of Alton
