Samuel W. Postma, the son of Wiebe and Jennie (Mulder) Postma, was born April 15, 1908 in Sheldon, IA. He received his education at Western Christian Academy and later at Sheldon Junior College. On June 19, 1936 he was united in marriage to Priscilla E. Vermeer in Sioux Center, Iowa. After marriage the couple lived in Orange City where Sam was the Deputy County Recorder for Sioux County. In 1944 the couple moved to Sheldon where he was employed at the Sheldon National Bank. He later established the Postma Insurance Agency which he operated until his retirement ini 1984. His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 18, 1993 in Sheldon, IA. Sam passed away on Thursday, March 31, 1994 at the home of his daughter in Spencer, IA reacing the age of 85 years, 11 months and 16 days.

He was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon, he taught Sunday School and was a member of the church choir. He and his wife had been sponsors of the Intermediate Christian Endeavor.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory two daughters and their husbands, Loma Dawn and John Vanderboom of Juneau, Alaska and Nyla Jane and Dr. Tom Throckmorton, of Spencer, IA, four grandchildren, Heather Dawn Griffin, Lyria Jane Throckmorton,Thomas Warf Throckmorton and Courtenay Jane Throckmorten, a great-grandchild, Lindsay Shae Griffin, one brother John Postma of Battle Creek, Michigan; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters, Gertrude Postma and Mrs. Zeena Hendriks, one brother, Peter Postma.
