Cordelia Caroline was the daughter of William and Mathilda (Lichtenberg) Wrede. She was born on her family's farm and attended St. John's Lutheran Church and School in rural Alta. She was confirmed at age 14.

On her birthday in 1941, she was united in marriage to Charles Henry Boyd in South Sioux City, NE. The couple first lived in Maurice, until "Charlie" entered the United States Army during World War II. "Cordy" lived briefly in Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York and Sioux City, holding various jobs until her husband's discharge. Together they returned to Maurice, where they lived until April of this year when they moved to the Kosgrove Estate in Sioux Center.

Mrs. Boyd was a member of the First Reformed Church in Maurice and had attended the Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Texas and to their cabin in northern MN, where she enjoyed fishing. Cordy was an excellent seamstress and cook and a wonderful wife and aunt.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years; her nephews and nieces, Bradley and Patty Wrede of Westminister, CO; James "Buzz" and Jackie Stanton of Bellflower, CA; Shirley and Wayne Ostlund of Baudette MN; Homer M.Jr "Sonny" and Wayver Boyd of Bradenton, FL.; and John R. and Roma Boyd of Le Mars; and many great nephews and nieces as well as numerous special friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Marlin and Elsie Wrede; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Homer and Goldie Boyd, J. Robert and Mildred Boyd, Jesse and Esther Boyd and Doris and Jim Stanton; and nephews and nieces Bruce Wrede, Brian Wrede, Betty Meier, Virginia Lorenzen, Raimy Dean Stanton, Lila Stockton, and Donna Stanton.

Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association or the Maurice First Reformed Church New Kitchen Fund.
