Mrs. Lena E. Green Lena Elizabeth Green, 88, died Wednesday, April 15, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden. The Rev.John Goertz officiated. Interment was at the Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden. Vander Ploeg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lena (Schreuder) Green was born March 3, 1910, near Boyden, the daughter of Paul and Dora (Sitter) Schreuder. She attended country school and graduated from Boyden High School in 1929. She married Marvin E. Green on Aug. 27, 1932, in Sisseton, S.D. The couple farmed near Boyden until retiring in 1976.He died June 24, 1981. She moved into Boyden in December, 1982. She entered the Pleasant Acres Care Facility in December, 1997.

Lena was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Women’s Organization. She was active on the Farm Bureau Homemakers and the Sioux Falls Chapter of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. Lena enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sue Arnold and Charles Falvey of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son and his wife, Jerry and Harriet of Boyden; three granddaughters; and two sisters, Cynthia Schuett of Brookings, S.D., and Eunice Vander Burgh of Longview, Texas. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Duane; and an infant sister, Elizabeth.
