Hawarden Independent of May 19, 1983

Mrs. Adolph Traurig, 52, Sioux City, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 12 in a Sioux City hospital. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, May. 14 in the Cathedral of the Epiphany. Monaignor Louis Kollasch officiated. Burial was1 in Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Traurig, the former Esther M. Hulstein, was born December 14,1930, in Sioux Center, and attended school there. She went to Sioux City in 1967. She married Adolph Traurig July 19, 1969, at Hawarden. She worked at the Gordon Chemical Dependency Center and had worked at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in the dietary department the last four years.Mrs. Traurig was a member of Cathedral of the Epiphany and the Sioux City Eagles Aeries 77 Auxiliary.

Survivors are her husband; two sons, Todd Lems of Ames and Vance Lems at home; one daughter Valera Lems of Sioux City; seven stepchildren; three brothers, Gerrit of Fort Atkinson, WI, Raymond of Hull, and Harold of Hudson; three sisters, Mrs. William (Gertrude) Wallenburg of Hawarden, Mrs. John (Cornelia) Wersma of Fort Atkinson, and Mrs. Darrell (Shirley) Hartman of Maurice; one grandchild and three step grandchildren.
