Wilmina Smit, 72, of Hull died on Wednesday, December 9, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone and the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Smit was born on September 13, 1926, in Hull, the daughter of John and Kate (Korthals) Van Den Oever. She was raised in Hull.

She married Anthony James Smit on February 25, 1948, in Hull. The couple farmed in the Hull area. In 1993, they moved into Hull. She entered Valley Manor in Rock Valley in October 1998. She was a member of First Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband, Anthony; a son and his wife, James and Carol of Orange City; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Don Krommendyk of Hull and Marlys and Jerry De Groot of Alton; eight grandchildren, Steven, Sara and Cory Smit, Shelly Van Otterloo, Brad Krommendyk and Travis, Kelli and Derek De Groot; and six sisters, Jean Vander Zwaag, Catherine De Wit and LaVonne Kroese, all of Hull, Henrietta Wassenaar of Steen, Minnesota, and Joan Boeve and Evelyn Rens, both of Hills, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Vander Vliet and Cynthia Oostra, and a brother, John Mulder.
