Alton Democrat of April 6, 1907 Matlock News.

We are again called upon to report the death of an old and highly respected citizen and pioneer in the person of Earnest Kammilade (Kammlade) of Matock who died at the home of his son Earnest April second. He has been in very poor health for several years being a great sufferer of asthma and heart complications and has been very sick at divers times. Last Saturday he was taken with acute pneumonia and gradually sunk until death came to his relief and he slept the sleep that knows no awakening-

Mr. Kammilade was born March fifteen 1882 and was seventyfive years and eighteen days old. He was the father of seven children who have all grown to adolesence and are highly respected citizens. His sons George and Earnest reside at Matlock and the others are residents of Pittsburg Pennsylvania except one daughter who died about two years ago, He leaves a widow who is his second wife.

His first wife died before his moving to the west about thirty years ago He then married Mrs. Behrends —mother to Henry Behrends the Matlock grain dealer. He thus enjoyed the attention of a faithful wife who now mourns his death after having lived together over twentyfive years.

Mr. Kammilade was a sturdy German honorable in his dealings and ambitious to carve out a home in the fertile prairies of Iowa. He was abundantly blessed with the proceeds of his labor. He was a kind husband and a good father and a respected citizen and we extend the sympathy of all to the relatives and friends in their bereavement. The body was taken to the old home in Pittsburg to be interred in the old family burial place.

( Ernest was married to second wife Maria Karolina Hacker on 22 Dec 1881 Sioux County IA. Ernest was born 14 March 1832 Germany died 2 Apr 1907 Matlock, buried in family plot in PA. His first wife according to marriage of a son or two was Sara Chamsine. Ernest’s parents were Matthis Kammlade and Anna Reils.)
