Garret Van De Brake passed away Tuesday afternoon. He had been lingering for a number of weeks as we related in our items a number of times. He was one of Sioux county's pioneers. We have often heard him relate of the times they had in those days. Our present generation would find it almost impossible to get along in that way. Yet he has accumulated quite a bit of property which goes to his children. It was at his house that the James Bros. stopped for a lunch when they crossed Sioux county in their numerous raids years ago, He was 80 years old. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the first Reformed church where he was for many years a devoted member.
