After an illness of several weeks Mrs. P. J. (Peter G.) de Jong died at her home near Orange City Tuesday evening at half past six. Last week Drs. Jepson and Murphy of Sioux City came and examined Mrs. De Jong and stated that the chances for her recovery were slight. Last Saturday a baby girl arrived and on Sunday the mother grew worse. Deceased was thirty two years and eleven months old and had been married ten years. She leaves a husband and four children and one sister Mrs. Straks of Harrison South Dakota and seven brothers. The funeral services conducted by Rev. Stapelkamp were held this Friday afternoon.

(She was found to be Peternella ‘Nellie’ Neevel born May 1874 Alto WI, she married on 10 Feb 1897 to Peter G. De Jong born Dec 1873 IA , he died May 16, 1963. He later married to Martha Noordhof Dec 26, 1907. Children born to Peter and Nellie were Gerrit, Harry, Nelson and Nellie bon 7 Apr 1907. Nellie was the daughter of Johannes H. Neevel 1825-16 Jul 1888 Alton WI and Petertje Baij 1832 -1881.)
