Sioux Center News of March 21,1984

Mrs. Gerrit Gesink, 80, of Orange City died Monday in a hospital in Orange- City after a brief illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City; The Rev. Thomas Vanden Heuvel officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery. Family visitation was from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

Mrs. Gesink, the former Bertha Gesink; was born Nov. 3, 1903, in rural Orange City and Was a lifelong area resident. She married Gerrit Gesink Feb. 27, 1924, at Orange City. He died here Sept. 11, 1959. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include three sons, Harvey of Alton, and Bert and Elmer, both of Orange City; one daughter, Mrs. Bernie (Elizabeth) Doppenberg of Orange City; three brothers, Chris in Michigan, Gerrit of Alamosa, Colo., and Bill of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Johanna Vegter of Hull, Mrs. Christena Opt Holt and Mrs. Elizabeth Miersma, both of Orange City; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
