Gladys Gerritsen of Orange City died Friday, June 2, at the Northshire-Longhouse Residence in Spencer, on her 101st birthday. A memorial service was Monday at 3 p.m., at First Christian
Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Timothy Ouwinga officiating. Interment was at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Mrs. Gerritsen was born on June 2, 1905, in rural Orange City, the daughter ofJohn and Bertha
(Hofmeyer) Reinders. She was raised at Games, where she attended a country school. On November 18, 1926, she married John Gerritsen at Orange City. They lived in the Orange City area, where she was a homemaker. Her husband died in 1974 in Orange City. Later, she became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In 1997, she moved to Spencer. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed playing games and crocheting, giving many doilies to family members and friends.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Albert and Marlys (De Haan) Gerritsen of Spencer; a son-in-law and his wife, Vernon and Carol Noteboom of Orange City; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death
by her daughter, Berniece Noteboom; a granddaughter; and eight brothers and sisters, Gertrude Schuller, Dena Vellinga, Joe Reinders, Hattie Foreman Brouwer, Jennie Vogel, Gerrit Reinders, Albert Reinders, and Ed Reinders in infancy. Memorials will be directed to the
Orange City Christian School.
