Howard R. Shipman, who has been a patient in the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City passed away early Saturday morning very unexpectedly. Mr. Shipman had previously had his leg amputated to relieve his condition and was steadily gaining but death claimed him suddenly.

Funeral services were held at the Shipman home at 2:00 on Monday afternoon with Rev. L. A. Rachuy of the Methodist Church officiating.

Howard R. Shipman was born June 9, 1863, near the city of Bangur, New York, and passed away Dec. 19, 1942.

He moved to Monticello, Iowa and later moved to a farm near George, Iowa. In 1878 he moved to Rock Valley. In 1892 he married Kittie Farrell and to this union one child was born. His wife preceded him in death in November of 1898 and November 15, 1904 he married Clara Miller and to this union two children were born, Robert and Mary Harriet (Mrs. Frank De Haan of Sioux Center) all of whom survive him.
