Frank Bowden, 86, of Ireton died Sunday, June 29 at the Hawarden Hospital. Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Ireton. The Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home. There was a prayer service at 7 p.m, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowden was born Nov. 30, 1893 in Mountain Grove, MO. He married Clara Watkins on Aug. 26, 1917 at Hamburg, IA. Mr. Bowden farmed in the Ireton area until his retirement in 1959. The Bowdens moved into Ireton in 1944.

He served in World War I and was a member of American Legion Bertram Post 276 of Ireton. Mr. Bowden was active in Little League Baseball and was a past member of the Ireton School Board.

Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Velda) Juffer and Mrs. Delmer (Ardell) Smit, both of Ireton, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Lovrien of Hawarden, Mrs. Gaylon (Wanda) Kuchel of Omaha; two sons, Thayne of Hawarden and Homer of Garden Grove, Calif,; two brothers, the Rev. Robert of Abilene, Texas, and Leet of Morehead, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Jim (Grace) Carroll of Osceoia, Minn.; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
