Died: July 10, 1944 Hawarden, Iowa

W.L. Shriner, a long time resident of Hawarden, passed away at his home in the north part of town at 11:45 o'clock Monday night, following a lingering illness. He had been bedfast for several weeks.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock at the Ross Funeral Home this afternoon. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery.

William L. Shriner was born at Vermillion, January 28, 1869, and passed away in Hawarden July 10, 1944, having attained the age of 75 years, 5 months and 12 days. He grew to manhood at Vermillion and was married to Matilda Chadwick. They continued to make their home at Vermillion following their marriage until 38 years ago, when they came to Hawarden. He was employed by the Northwestern Railroad for a number of years and later he operated the pumping station for the Milwaukee Railroad company in this city. He had held this job since 1924.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. John Knutson, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Lindenman of San Bernardino, Calif; and Mrs. A. E. Lindenman of Colton, Calif. One daughter preceded him in death many years ago and one son, Clarence, died several years ago. He is also survived by one brother, R. A. Shriner of Hawarden.

His daughters, Mrs. Fred Lindenman and Mrs. A. E. Lindenman, came to be with him during his illness and his other daughter, Mrs. Knutson, has also been here much of the time during the past several weeks.
