Florence Feikema
Florence A. Feikema, 97, of Hawarden died Sunday, March 30, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.Mrs. Feikema was born January 14, 1911, in Hawarden, the daughter of Martin and Ella Marie (Degen) Treiber. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended school at the Buncombe Township School. She married Frank Feikema on November 24, 1933. She was a homemaker and a cook at Coilcraft. Her husband died November 18, 1965. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was involved with the Ladies Aid, LWML, a Sunday school teacher and a vacation Bible school teacher. She enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and volunteered at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop for 15,000 hours.
She is survived by three daughters, Norma and her husband Arden Waag of Sioux Falls, Eleanor Feikema and her special friend Bob Sorensen of Sioux City and Carol and her husband Duane Aldrich of Hawarden; a sister, Donna Miller of Hawarden; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson.
