Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church here at 1:30 p.m., today (Thursday) for John G. Schuiteman, 66, retired farmer and life-long resident of Sioux Center community, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital early Monday evening, a few hours after suffering a heart attack.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Harry Brower and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery. Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A brief service for the family will be held at the home preceding the service at the church.
Active pall bearers will be John G. Den Herder; Art E. Franken; Neal Van Beek; Henry Huitink; Martin Kuiken, Martin Dykshoorn.
Honorary pall bearers will be Gerrit Van Putten; Ernest Mulder, Maurice A. Te Paske.
Mr. Schuiteman was born in Sioux Center and at the age of seven moved with his parents to a farm west of Sioux Center where he made his home until retiring and moving into Sioux Center in 1957.
He was married to Johanna Rozeboom March 8, 1921, and to this union six daughters were born, all of whom survive him. They are Harriet (Mrs. Henry Boterhoek) of Sheldon; Arlene, who is now on leave in the U.S. from missionary work in South Sudan, Africa; Bernice (Mrs. Howard Sandbulte) of Sioux Center; Grade of Sioux Center; Joyce (Mrs. Rev. Wilmer Ver Meer) of Davis, SD; and Mildred, a student at Hope College, Holland, MI.
Other survivors besides his widow, include his mother, Mrs. Gerrit Schuiteman of Sioux Center; four sisters, Mrs. Wm. G. Hulstein; Mrs. Sam P. Schutt; Henrietta and Mrs. Ed J. Vermeer, all of Sioux Center, and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Schuiteman had served as an elder in the First Reformed Church.
