W. G. Serine, one of the old residents of Hawarden, died at his home in this city at 2 o'clock last Saturday afternoon, after an illness of long duration, at the age of 74 years. Funeral services were held at the home at ten o'clock Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. R.A. Quinn, pastor of the Methodist Church.
William Garrison Serine was born in Fishkill, N. Y. in 1836. In 1863 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Latham in Illinois. In 1867 they moved to Conrad, Iowa where they resided until 1889 when they moved to Hawarden where they have since continued to make their home. Five children were born to them all of whom are still living. The children are; Mrs. Jessie Stover of Conrad; Lewis Serine of Hawarden; Anna Bray, Iroquois, S.D.; Oliver Serine, Hoven, S.D. Thos. Serine, Iroquois. Al of the children except Oliver were present at the funeral. His wife survives him and she and her children have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
