Rock Valley Register Nov 3, 1893

John Coyne, living eight miles north of town, died last Sunday evening from old age. Mr. Coyne was in his 96th year and enjoyed good health until a short time since.

He has lived-here about eight years and is well known arid respected by all. 'The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Phelan, from St. Mary's Church on Tuesday forenoon.

ANOTHER NEWS ITEM:
The Rock Valley Bee, Oct. 25, 1912 has this news note: "The remains of John Coyne who was buried in St. Mary’s cemetery about nineteen years ago were removed Tuesday to the Sacred Heart cemetery at Alvord. The deceased was the father of Mrs. Morse [i.e., Maurice] O’Connor of Alvord."

TRANSCRIBER NOTES: Only indication of this family found was a Bridget Coyne born about 1865 lived in Doon IA in 1885 and 1900. May Coyne (Mrs. Maurice O’Connor) was living in Doon in 1925 Her parents were listed as John Coyne and Mary Keefe. A family that may be the right one was found in the Canadian census of 1881 living a Windchester Ontario. John Coyne born 1799 Ireland a widower was living with son’s family John Coyne 1836 Ireland, son's wife was Cathrine born 1846 USA, Their children were Helene 13, Bridget 11, Bernard 9, May E. 6, Roanna 3, July?1, Mary 36 and John 82 b.. 1799. Assuming John 82 was the father of John 45, and grandfather of Bridget and May later found at Doon IA.
