Funeral services for Herman Thomassen, 69, of Rock Valley, who died Tuesday afternoon in the Sioux Valley hospital in Sioux Falls, will be held Friday in the Rock Valley Netherlands Reformed Church, under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

Survivors include the widow and one daughter, Mrs. Gerrit Rozeboom of Rock Valley. Interment will be in the cemetery there.

Mr. Herman Thomassen was born in Ede, The Netherlands on January 29, 1885 and early in life came to America and settled near Fairview, where he spent the most part of his life.

Mr. Thomassen was united in marriage to Bertha De Graaf at Inwood on May 26, 1921, who now survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Marie (Mrs. Gerrit Rozenboom) of Rock Valley. He also has one full brother and two half sisters in The Netherlands, and three half brothers. One brother died during World War II.

Mr. Thomassen passed away at Sioux Falls, SD last week Tuesday, July 20, and funeral services were held Friday at the Gerrit Rozenboom home and at The Netherlands Reformed church at Rock Valley with Rev. J. Van Zweden officiating. Pall bearers were Johannes Teunissen, Gerrit Dolieslager, John Maassen, Gerrit Maassen, John Vander Heul and Ray Huyser.

Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley with Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home of Sioux Center in charge.
