Funeral services for John Ter Wee, 55, who died of cancer at his farm home near Inwood, Aug. 3, were held Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the First Reformed Church in Inwood with Rev. M. Hoekman officiating.

A resident of the Inwood area in Sioux County for more than 45 years, Mr. Ter Wee was born in The Netherlands, Jan. 16, 1901, and came to America with his parents when he was 10 years of age. The family first settled at Hull, later moving to Rock Valley where they remained until 1912 when the family moved to the farm that was to be John's home all his life. It is located 6 1/2 miles south of Inwood.

He became a member of the First Reformed Church at Inwood in 1923, where he served as deacon for 16 years from 1935 to 1951. He was married on Feb. 14, 1929, to Johanna Van Westerhuizen. Four children were born to this couple. A son, Roger, preceded his father in death on July 3, 1934, at the age of five weeks.

Mr. Ter Wee was active in church, community and farm activities. He served with the Foundation for Infantile Paralisis, the American Cancer Society, and was active in the Farm Bureau, P.M.A., and A.S.C. programs.

Surviving are the widow, Johanna Ter Wee, two sons, James Allen of Fairview, SD, Dale Leroy with the armed services; one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Delores Ann) Johnson of Akron, IA; two grandchildren; three brothers, Henry & Gerrit of Inwood and Marinus of Larchwood; four sisters, Mr. Walter (Alice) Tilstra, Mrs. John (Gertrude) Timmermans and Mrs. Sam (Wilma) Kooistra, all of Inwood and Hilda Ter Wee of Lincoln, Neb.
