Gertrude Boone, 91, of Sioux City died Saturday, March 8, at Sunrise Retirement Community.

Services were Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with Chaplain Glenn Houts of Hospice of Siouxland officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Hull, Iowa

Mrs. Boone was born March 6, 1912, in Hull, the daughter of Henry and Lena (Mulder) Korthals. She married Henry Boone, Jr. on Feb. 25, 1935 in Sheldon. The couple made their home near Hull. He died December 29, 1944, near Hull.

She moved to Sioux Center in 1952 and was employed by Joe's Lunch and the Sioux Center Creamery. She relocated to Sioux City in 1964 and worked as a receptionist for Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel for more than ten years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and of Siouxland Senior Center. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include three children, Henrietta "Toots" Steinborn, Carold Faye Hunt and Ray Boone, and his wife Lois, all of Sioux City; two brothers, John Korthals of George, and Herman Korthals and his wife Thelma of Platte, South Dakota; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Boone; four grandchildren; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Memorials will be directed to the Siouxland Senior Center.
