Gertrude "Gert" Boone, 93, Maurice died Monday April 8, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Services were Thursday April 11, at First Reformed Church in Maurice, with Rev. Wayne Sneller officiating. Burial was at Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Gert Boone, daughter of Henry and Maggie (De Weerd) Schurman, was born Dec. 27, 1908 in Ireton. As a young child, she moved to Montana with her family, returning to Iowa as a teenager. She married Ben Boone on November 24, 1925, in Sheldon. Except for a short time in Sheldon, they lived most of their life in Maurice. Mr. Boone died June of 1971 in Sheldon. She became a resident of Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City in December of 1987. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Maurice. She enjoyed reading, watching baseball games and doing needlepoint and crocheting.

Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine and Vance Bainbridge of Kingsley; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; a son-in-law, Lloyd Kots; and several brothers and sisters.
