Mrs. Herman Spaan of Orange City passed away at her home Friday after a brief illness resulting from a stroke of Apoplexy.

Mrs. Spaan was born in Portland, Oregon, and when but three years old she left for Pella, Iowa, with her parents. She lived at Pella for several years and then moved to Sioux County.

In 1892, Tyrna Jongewaard was united in marriage to Herman Spaan at Orange City. Until two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Spaan have been on the farm but in 1930 they moved into Orange City.

Mrs. Spaan is survived by her husband, and six children, all of whom reside hereabouts except a son that lives at Ames. Dr. A.C. Jongewaard of Sioux Center is brother to the deceased.

Mrs. A.C. Jongewaard, Marie Jongewaard, Dr. and Mrs. A.C. Jongewaard, Dr. and Mrs. Neal Jongewaard, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Redeker attended the funeral of Mrs. Spaan at Orange City Monday afternoon at which Rev. Brower of Trinity Reformed Church officiated.
