James Koedam Sr., 92, of Rock Valfcy. died Thursday. May 27, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Services were at the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley on Tuesday morning, with the Rev. John den Hoed officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Koedam was born March 24, 1901, in Sioux Center, the son of Willem and Alida Koedam. He married Marie Van Ginkel on February 7.1923, in Orange City. The couple farmed near Doon until moving to an acreage east of Rock Valley in 1952. They moved into town in 1972. He moved to Valley Manor of Rock Valley in February 1992.

Survivors Include his wife; three sons, Bill of Rock Valley, and Jim and Edwin, both of Doon; a daughter, Gertrude Den Boer of Rock Valley: a sister, Mary Van Ginkel of Rock Valley; 16 grandchildren; 34 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin; a grandchild, Wanda Jane Koedam: a great-grandchild, Rebecca Deri Boer, four brothers, Sam, Hank, John and Andrew; and a sister, Martha Van Kekerix.
