Marie Koedam Marie Koedam, 95, of Rock Valley died Wednesday, April 3,1996, at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Services were Friday al the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley wilh we Rev. John den Hoed officiaiing. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Visiialion was at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.

Mrs. Koedam was bom Jan. 16, 1901, at Ede, The Netherlands, the daughter of Evert and Geenje (Van Donkelaar) VanGinkel. She came to the Untied States and to the Pella, Iowa, area with her family at the age of 6 weeks. She married James Koedam Feb.7,1923, in Orange City.

The couple farmed in the Doon area until moving to an acreage east of Rock Valley in 1952. They moved into Rock Valley in 1972. Mr. Koedam died May 27,1993, and she moved to Valley Manor in Rock Valley in March 1994.

Survivors include three sons and their wives. Bill and Everdina of Rock Valley, James Jr, and Wilma and Edwln and Nina, all of Doon; a daughter and her husband, Gertrude nnd John J. Den Doer of Rock Valley; a brother and his wife, Ed and Fredrika Van Ginkel of Ontario, CA; two sisters, Kate Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley and Jennie and her husband John De Wit of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Effie Van Ginkel of Rock Valley; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and four greatgreat-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Edwin a granddaughter, Wanda Jane Koedam and three grealgrandchildren.
