Funeral services for Mrs. Alfonso Thayer, 80, were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. The Rev. Raymond Roloff of the Methodist Church officiated and burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Thayer died Saturday night at a Sioux Center hospital following a brief illness.

The former Lillie Thornton, she was born Feb. 11, 1886, at New Providence, Iowa. In 1914 she was married to Mr. Thayer at Denver, Colo. he died in 1952. The couple had farmed in the Rock Valley area since 1935.

Survivors include one son, Robert of Rock Valley; two daughters, Mrs. Ogden Childers of Sanborn, and Mrs. Robert Taylor of Pueblo, Colo. eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
