Lavonne M. Kroese
Lavonne Mae Kroese, 83, of Hull died Saturday, September 27, at the Sanford Sheldon hospital. Funeral service was Tuesday, September 30, at 2 p.m. at American Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Steven Bierly officiated. Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Kroese was born July 24, 1925, at Hull, the daughter of John Bliss and Ruth Mae (Weaver) Bolks. She was raised on a farm south of Perkins. She graduated from the Perkins School in 1938 and from the Hull High School in 1942. She then lived at Boyden; Utah; Brooklyn, New York; and West Virginia, where she worked as a typist. On February 20, 1947, she married Charles Kroese, Jr., in Hull. They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. She also served as the bookkeeper for her husband's businesses, Hull Dairy and Hull Sanitation. He died March 13, 1990, in Rock Valley. She continued to live in Hull until 2004, when she moved to Fieldcrest in Sheldon. In February of 2008, she transferred to Sanford Sheldon Senior Care. She was a member of the American Reformed Church, where she belonged to the Faith Circle and participated in the women's activities.

She was also very much involved in Friendship Bible Studies in Hull. She enjoyed traveling, working crossword puzzles, playing, listening to music, sewing, doing handwork and growing flowers.

Survivors include her three daughters, Cheryl Vander Schaaf of Boston, Massachusetts; Gail and her husband Dean Bieser of Mars, Pennsylvania, and Mary and her husband Leon Kanengieter of Sioux Falls; a son and his wife, Carl and Mary Kroese of St. Peters, Missouri; seven grandchildren; two great granddaughters; a step-great granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Augusta Bolks of Hull; a brother- in law, Henry Kooiker of Bellflower,- California; and many nephews and nieces.

She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Hazel De Boer, Irma Derr, Viola , Geurkink, Esther Kooiker, Ruth Bolks, Ruth Mildred Bolks, Harold Bolks, Lloyd Bolks and Alfred Bolks.

Memorials will be directed to the church building fund.
