Lawrence Van Zee, 67, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, December 6, at Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Services were Saturday at Carmel Reformed Church with the Rev. Carl Boersma officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Van Zee was born on March 10, 1928, the son of Peter and Gertrude (Poolstra) Van Zee, in Corsica, South Dakota. He lived and worked in Platte, South Dakota, area until 1976 when he moved to Sioux Center. He married Kathy Kaskie on January 7, 1984, in Rock Valley. He worked for Harker's until 1985, when he retired due to failing health.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters and their husbands, Deb and Jerry Blatchford of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Kim and Mike Brommer of Norfolk, Nebraska, Vickie and Mike Altena of Sioux Center and Kristi and Orlin Oostra of Hull; seven step-children and their spouses, Rhonda and John Leusink of Sioux Center, Vickie and Gary Veenis of Canton, S.D., Steve and Kristin Kaskie of Canton, Terry and Karen Kaskie of Hudson, S.D. Kristi and Brian Kooima of Rock Valley, Randy and Linda Kaskie of Sioux Center and Kelly and Carl Schelling of Sioux Center; two brothers, John Van Zee of Armor S.D. and Royce Van Zee of Platte S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Esther) Hoekman and Mrs. Don (Leona) Mathey, both of Platte, S.D; 10 grandchildren, and 15 step-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and the following brothers and sisters; Margaret Klein, Rena Bok. Betty Van Zee, Arie Van Zee and Robert Van Zee.
