Died: August 26, 1930 Cheyenne, Wyoming

Mrs. B.D. Van Zandt as early day resident of this city, died about noon Tuesday at her home at Cheyenne, Wy. No particulars concering her death were contained in the telegram received here by her brother Chas. W. Keniston, and it was not known that she had been in ill health. Three of her sisters departed immediately upon receipt of news of her death to attend the funeral, which will be held in Cheyenne.

Minnie Keniston was born at Ft. Dodge, Iowa, August 25, 1868 and died at Cheyenne, Wy. August 26, 1930 at the age of 62 year and 1 day. With her parents she moved to Plymouth County, near Le Mars, when still a small child and her girlhood was spent here. For a year or two prior to her marriage she made her home in Caliope with her brother, Chas. W. Keniston and family. On April 27, 1890, she was united in marriage to B.D. Van Zandt at Orange City. They immediately went to housekeeping in Hawarden and continued to make their home in this city for more than fifteen years. About twenty-four years ago the family left Hawarden, locating first at Selby, S.D. where they remained for a year or two, after which they located on a ranch near Cheyenne. A number of years ago they left in ranch and have since been living in Cheyenne. Besides her husband, Mrs. Van Zandt is survived by one son, Verle, and one daughter, Verna, both of whom are married and live in Wyoming. She is also survived by her aged father, Uriah B. Keniston of Akron, Iowa, now past 94 years of age; five sisters, Mrs. Hattie Ferguson of Anderson Missouri,, Mrs. Mary Kanago of Le Mars, Mrs. Daisy Port of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Ethel Parker and Mrs. Louie Allen of Akron; and two brothers, Chas. W. Keniston of Hawarden and Wilbur S. Keniston of Sawyer N.D.

Mrs. Van Zandt was well known and highly regarded by all of the older residents of Hawarden and news of her death was received with sincere sorrow. She still retained her membership in the Royal Neighbor lodge of Hawarden.
