Mrs. Selma Van Zandbergen, age 87, of Alton, passed away Wednesday, March 9, at Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital in Primghar, Iowa

Selma was born August 25, 1900 at Bode, Norway. She came to the United States with her parents, and they settled at Winthrop, Minn. After graduating from Winthrop High School, she attended Mankato Commercial College in Mankato, Minn. She then moved to Alton where she became office secretary at the Slagle Lumber Yard.

She married John Van Zandbergen at Alton. He passed away June 7, 1974 at Alton. In 1985 she became a resident of Wide View Rest Home in Paullina.

Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Clarence (Augusta) Litch of Wilmar, Minn. and nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gustaf, Bernard, and Victor Carlson and one sister Anna Schilling.

Funeral services were held Saturday March 12, at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City with the Rev. Raymond Tilstra of the Reformed Church of Alton officiating. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton.
