Mr. Charles Kroese, Jr., age 68, of Hull, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 13, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Charles, who was known as "Chuck', was born December 15, 1921, at Hull, the son of Charles Kroese, Sr., and Hilda Brouwer Kroese. He was raised on a farm near Hull and served in the United States Army during World War II.

On February 20, 1947, he married LaVonne M. Bolks at Hull. They continued to live in Hull, where he was employed by Miersma Feed and Hatchery. He then operated the Hull Dairy and later was a distributor for Wells Blue Bunny. About 1975, be began operating Chuck's Sanitation, semi-retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the American Reformed Church, where he was currently an elder and had served as a deacon on the consistory. He was also member of the Men's Chorus and had been a Sunday School and Catechism teacher. He was a member of the board of directors of Centennial Apartments and a member of the American Legion, both in Hull. He was an avid bowler, being a member of the Wells Blue Bunny team for many years. He was also a supporter of Rolling Hills Golf Course.

Survivors include his wife; threedaughters, Cheryl Vander Schaaf; of Marblehead, Massachusetts; Gail, and her husband, Dean Bieser, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Mary, and her husband, Leon Kanengieter, of Sioux Falls, S. D.; a son Carl, of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, Troy and Carrie Bieser; and Justin, Brach, and Chad Kanengieter; brother, Peter, of Hull; and four sisters, Gertrude VanOtterloo, of Rock Valley; and Evelyn Marra, Nell, and Mrs. Louis (Ann) Wielenga, all of Hull.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, John, Ivan, and William; and two sisters, Jessie Stienstra and Wilma Miersma. Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, at the American Reformed Church of Hull, with the Rev. Phillip Sneller officiating. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery in Hull, under the direction of the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home of Hull.
