Mary J. Stremlau, 81, of Mendota, Illinois, formerly of Hospers, died at a hospital in Rockford, Illinois, on December 6. Services wee Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota. Burial was at St. Anthony Cemetery in Hospers on Monday.

Stremlau was born on July 9, 1913, in Hospers, the daughter of William & Elizabeth (Metzen) Klein. She married Roger Stremlau on December 27, 1958, in Peterstown. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Sister Anne Stremlau of Mauston, Wisconsin; Jean Anderson of Rock Falls, Illinois; Kathleen Eager and Julie Mahoney both of Earlville, Illinois, and Nancy Kellam of Arenzville, Illinois two sons, Bill Stremlau of Ottawa, Illinois, and Tom Stremlau of New Orleans, Louisiana; 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emil Frantzen, in 1949; two daughters; seven brothers and two sisters.
