Milo P. Koob, 85, of Granville died Wednesday, June 4, 2003,at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. Msgr. Kenneth Seifried officiated. Burial was at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Granville under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home, Remsen.

Milo was born Feb. 1,1918, at rural Granville, the son of Barney and Anna (Drees) Koob. He was raised in the Granville area and received his education at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Granville. He was then engaged in farming with his parents near Granville. On Nov. 11, 1943, Milo married Frances Ney at Granville. They farmed northwest of Granville until retiring and moving to just east of Granville in 1977.

He had been a resident of the Heritage House since March 8, 2003. He was known for his sense of humor. Mr. Koob was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Fraternal Order of Eagles of Sheldon.

Survivors include his wife, Frances of Granville; three sons and their wives, Sam and Mary Lee of Council Bluffs, Denny and Kay of Granville, and Dale and Deb of Worthington, Minn.; five daughters and their husbands, Rosemary and Ron Meis of Crescent, Marge and David 'Pete' Mathern and Kristy and Roger Kunkel all of Sioux City .Shirley and Emmet Steffes of Omaha, Neb. and Patty and Kenny Konz of Alton; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rosie Koob of Granville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Koob; seven brothers, Nick, John, Ray, Leonard who died when a young child, Leo 'Jim', Ed and Francis; and two sisters, Margaret-Hodapp and Marina Nemmers
