Bert Kroon. 96, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, May 13, at his residence. Services were Friday at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Mark De Wit and the Rev. Harold Lenters officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull..

Kroon was born on January 14, 1896, in rural Hull and attended rural schools. He married Tena Hoogschagen December 12, 1921. The couple farmed in the Hull area before moving to Orange City in 1956. She died in 1962 in Orange City. He retired in Sioux Center in 1967. Kroon served as a board member of the Co-operative Gas and Oil Company of Hull. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center and had served as an elder and deacon in First Reformed Churches in Orange City and Hull. Kroon served as president of the rural Hull School Board.

Survivors include a daughter, Alma Jean Hopper, of Sioux Center; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Jennie Korthals, of Hills, Minnesota. He was also preceded in death by a son, Alvin Leo Kroon.
