Dreka Kool, 89 , died Wednesday, August 17, at her residence in Ireton. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dow Funeral Home in Ireton. The Rev. Wybren Oord, pastor of the Christian Reformed Church, officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.

Born Dreka Vande Hoef on May 14,1899 , in the Netherlands, she came to the United States with her parents and settled in the Ireton area. She married Andrew Kool on February 2 5 , 1925, in Alton. They lived in the Alton and Alcester areas. He died June 9,1937 . She moved to Hawarden in 1938 . She had been employed by the Hawarden hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Rena Holtrop of Ireton and Johanna Kool at the U.S. Naval Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; two sons, Adrian of Hawarden and Marvin of Huron, South Dakota; a sister, Antonia Vander Feen of Hawarden; a brother, Ed Vande Hoef of Ireton; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
