Francis F. Streff, 60, of Alton, died Monday, April 24 in a Sioux City hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with Monsignor Nicholas J. Ruba officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Floyd Post 200, American Legion, Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Streff was born Aug. 30, 1928 in Alton. He was raised in Alton and attended St. Mary's Academy. He was engaged in farming with his father and brother, Irvin, until he entered the U.S. Army, March 27, 1951. He served in Germany and was discharged March 21, 1953. He then became a lineman for the REC at Orange City.
Mr. Streff was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Floyd Post 200, American Legion.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Kim) Ohlson of Big Bear Lake, Calif; three grandchildren; four brothers, Vincent of Sheldon, Robert of Sauk Centre, Minn, and Clifford and Raymond both of Slayton, Minn. and three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Stella) Frederes of Alton; Mrs. George (Callista) Frederes of Remsen and Mrs. Ray (Charlene) Scheitler of LeMars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles in infancy, Irvin and Clarence, and a sister, Esther in infancy.
