Mrs. Ralph J. (Jennie) Kooiker, 87, passed away after a lingering illness at the Lyon Manor Care Center in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on Friday, July 24, 1981, at 4:40 P.M. She was a patient there since April 7, 1980. Services were held on Monday, July 27 at 10:00 A.M. from the First Reformed Church of Hull with the Rev. Henry Ver Meer officiating. Special music was a Dutch Psalm, Psalm 68, led by Rev. Ver Meer. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Kenneth Van Der Sloot, Clayton Kooiker, Calvin Kooiker, Ralph Kooiker, Vincent Kooiker and Wesley Kooiker. Burial was at Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Kraai Funeral Home.

She was born on Aug. 22, 1893 to Henry and Jennie Van De Weerd at Ede, Gelderland. Netherlands. At the age of 8 years she came with her family to the Sioux County area. She was united in marriage to Ralph J. Kooiker on November 27, 1912 at Rock Valley, Iowa.

To the union 8 children were born: Jennie, Mrs. Ed Vander Sloot of Hartley, Iowa; Harriet, Mrs. Jake Van Batavia of Hull, Iowa; John of Hull, Iowa; Henry of Bellflower, Claifornia; Arthur of Hull, Iowa; Edwin of Anaheim, California; Elmer of Crescent, lowa and Maxine, Mrs.Ray Napier of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 6 brothers: Henry, Harm, Jake, Ed, Hein, and John.

Surviving her are her 8 children, 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; 1 brother, Guy Van De Weerd of Bellflower, California; and 5 sisters: Gertie, Mrs. Richard Sneller of Sioux Center; Minnie, Mrs. Henry Franken of Sioux Center; Bertha, Mrs. Gerrit Wissink of Rock Valley; Dena, Mrs. Henry Wesselink of Sioux Center; and Gertrude, Mrs. Frank Gunnink of Healdsburg, California.
