Wayne Allen Kooiker, 50, of Hull, left this earthly life and went to be with his Lord on Wednesday , April 25, at his residence. Funeral service was Saturday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Protestant Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Steven Key officiating. Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.
Kooiker was born on February 18, 1957, at Hull, the son of William K. and Joyce K. (Mulder) Kooiker. He was raised on a farm just southwest of Hull. He graduated from Hull Christian School and Western Christian High School in Hull. Shortly before his high school graduation, he was involved in a traffic accident, which left him severely handicapped. He continued to live with his parents on their farm until 1997, when they moved into Hull. His mother, with the help of other family members, faithfully cared for him at their home for 32 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Protestant Reformed Church. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed animals. Survivors include his mother, Joyce Kooiker of Hull; three brothers and three sisters, Karla and her husband Doug Kats of Hudson, South Dakota, Kenneth Kooiker of Hull, Aletha and her husband David Groeneweg of Rock Valley, Lyle Kooiker and his wife Pam of Green Acres, Florida, Nick Kooiker and his wife Janet of Hull and Tricia and her husband John Driesen of Nathrop, Colo. Nephew and nieces and 10 great-nephews, and great-nieces.
